Graduate Nurse Residency
Nursing. It's a profession that demands continual learning. For new nurses, there is still much to learn as you make your transition from the classroom to clinical practice. And one-on-one mentoring from an expert nurse can make a big difference in your success.
That's where Lakeland Regional Medical Center's Graduate Nurse Residency Program comes in – it's the perfect way for you to make the leap from classroom to clinical practice. You'll go through an extensive orientation during the day shift, followed by mentoring sessions and shadow rounding with the highly experienced RNs who serve as Graduate Nurse Residency Coordinators. Plus, you'll enjoy ongoing interaction with your peers and have a forum for voicing concerns.
This multi-phased program helps you develop your abilities in a range of areas, including:
- Critical thinking in a clinical setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Planning, implementing and evaluating care for several patients
- Building relationships with interdisciplinary teams
- Becoming responsible for your own professional growth and development
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care
